The Central Belt is a directory of Scottish businesses. Browsing is free and listing is free. Some businesses take a paid premium placement — these appear in the Featured section on the home page and are always labelled Sponsored. A paid placement never changes how we review listings, never removes or outranks another business's free listing, and never bypasses our accuracy checks.
Sponsored placements are only available to businesses that genuinely own or represent the listed business. Sponsored content must be accurate and must comply with the rest of these terms. A placement can be removed at any time if the listing is inaccurate, misleading, or the agreement ends. The Sponsored label makes clear when a placement is paid promotion; unsponsored listings are not paid.
A sponsored placement is £199 a month, billed monthly in advance through our payment processor, Stripe. You can pay by card or by Direct Debit. There is no contract and no minimum term.
Age. Paid placements may only be ordered and paid for by someone aged 18 or over. If you are under 18, an adult authorised by the business must place and pay for the order.
Cancelling. You can cancel at any time by emailing hello@thecentralbelt.com, or by cancelling your Direct Debit mandate with your bank. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the month you have already paid for, and your placement stays live until then. Cancelling never removes your free listing.
Refunds. The month already served is not refundable — the placement ran on the site for that month. If we end your placement for our own reasons, for example because the listing breaches these terms, we will refund the unused part of any month you have paid for. Nothing in this section affects your statutory rights, and if you are a consumer you keep the rights the law gives you.
The Belt & Braces is our free weekly email for Scottish businesses. You must be 18 or older to subscribe. By subscribing you confirm you are 18+, you agree to be contacted using the details you provide, and you consent to receiving marketing emails from us. Subscription is free, and you can unsubscribe at any time by replying to any issue or emailing hello@thecentralbelt.com.
Registering your interest in appearing on The Central Belter costs nothing and does not commit you to anything. We will contact you using the details you provide to arrange a recording, and we will send you the episode to review before it is published — you can ask us to remove anything you would rather not have included. You are responsible for the accuracy of anything you say on the record. You can withdraw at any time before publication by replying to any email from us.
To submit a listing you must genuinely own or represent the business, you must be 18 or over, and the business must operate in Scotland or serve Scottish customers. The details you give must be accurate. By submitting you agree that the business name, category, town and description may be published in the directory.
Submissions are reviewed before publication and we may reject or remove any listing, at our discretion, if it is inaccurate, misleading, duplicates an existing listing, or falls outside the directory's purpose.
No fake or incentivised reviews. No misleading claims, prices, or credentials. No content that is unlawful, defamatory, or infringes anyone's rights. No spam, scraping, or automated collection of directory data. Listings must not present another business as your own.
Your listing content remains yours. You grant us permission to display it in the directory and to remove or edit it where needed to keep the directory accurate. Directory pages, layout, and branding belong to The Central Belt.
If a listing is wrong, or you want yours removed, email hello@thecentralbelt.com. We will act on valid requests within a reasonable time. Anyone can ask us to remove information about a business they own or represent.
Listing details are supplied by the businesses themselves, or taken from public sources (such as publicly listed contact details and category information) and kept factual. We do not verify every claim and we do not endorse any listed business — including businesses with a paid placement, which are advertising. You use the information at your own discretion. Links to businesses' own websites are outside our control. The directory is provided "as is" and we are not liable for loss arising from its use, to the extent permitted by law.

These terms are governed by the law of Scotland. Nothing here affects your statutory rights as a consumer.
